Vice president Yemi Osinbajo says Nigeria is at a turning point and that hard work, determination and commitment to service by the current generation of politicians is critical to positively changing the fortunes of the country.
He made the remark in Yola during an official visit to the state and the commissioning of projects executed by the Adamawa state governor, Senator Muhammadu Jibrilla Bindow.
Prof. Yemi Osinbajo said, “Three things have been critical in the agenda of president Muhammadu Buhari, Security, corruption and economy.
” We have seen the successes in security and the fight against corruption, and on the economy, there is light at the end of the tunnel. The president is very concerned about it. Yesterday President Buhari was discussing with me on what to do as a short-term measure to create unemployment for youths in the country.”
Osinbajo said, “we are working to create an innovation hub in the north east with it’s headquarters in Adamawa. The federal government is working with the international red Cross committed, American University of Nigeria and orther development Institute to develop plans on how to use technology to solve the humanitarian situation of the north east.
“This will give the people affected by insurgency the opportunity to be part of the solution by working with international organizations to proffer solution to the problems.
Professor Yemi Osinbajo who was conferred with the traditional title ‘Ja Gaban Adamawa’ said, “I am greatly honored to have been named the new ‘Ja gaban Adamawa’. “I will do my best to ensure that the interest of the state in given attention. ”
Osinbajo applauded Governor Jibrilla Bindow for transforming the state within the shortest possible time. He said, “I am proud to associate with the success recorded here by the Adamawa state governor.
He said, “Of all the successes recorded by the governor, the most important of them all is that he is a bridge builder.”
Osinbajo expressed optimism that Adamawa could rise to become among state in Nigeria with the commitment of the governors development.
Osinbajo said, “The federal government will work towards ensuring that destroyed structures by insurgency are rebuilt and that the state becomes a better place especially Madagali.”
Speaking at the occasion, the Secretary to the Government of the federation, Engineer Babachir David Lawal praised the Adamawa state governor, Senator muhammadu umaru Jibrilla for what he described as, “Bravery in ridding the state roads of with potholes.”
Babachir commended the governor for the outstanding road networks within the state capital and notes that the same progress should be replicated at the local government level in the state.
Speaking on behalf of elder statemen in the state, Ambassador Wilberforce Juta says, governor Jibrilla has both succeeded in bringing development to the state and uniting everyone irrespective of political divides or religion.
The senator representing Adamawa’ south, senator Binta Masi pleaded with the presidency to, “Rebuild roads and bridges that have been destroyed by the boko haram insurgency which is making life for the people in the area difficult.”
The minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Muhammed Musa Bello said, “I am very delighted for what we have been seen today I will like to solicit the indulgence of the Federal government to compliment the efforts of the governor for a job well-done and refund expenses incurred in the construction of roads and infrastructure in places devastated by Boko haram so that the governor will continue to do more.”
Musa Bello explained that governor Jibrilla has vividly displayed how the dividend of democracy should be delivered to the people of Adamawa and all political office holders from the state are proud of him.
At the lamido’s palace, the Lamido of Adamawa, Dr. Barkindo Mustapha said, “Passion for the state displayed by the vice president made the emirate to confer the title of ‘Ja Gaban Adamawa’ meaning the front runner of Adamawa.”
The lamido’s prayed that the title will be a blessing to the vice president and the people of Adamawa. The Lamido also led prayers for God’s direction and leadership on the president, Muhammadu Buhari.
